It’s time once again for Picture Perfect, this week being hosted by JohnOhh. John has picked a theme this week that is a passion for me ~Crochet.~ My paternal grandmother taught me this dying art over thirty years ago, and I have been doing it ever since. I remember being very young watching her make afghans, baby blankets, doilies, runners, and tablecloths. The first finished project that I made was a simple round pineapple doily that I still use from time to time. I take great pride when I make my own afghans, baby blankets, doilies, and runners, I make them and give them away as a gift to family and friends who will appreciate and take care of them as I make them with love.
The meaning of the word crochet
transitive verb:
to make of crochet <crocheted a doily>intransitive verb: to work with crochet
This is absolutely beautiful! After all the crocheting I have done I have to say that I have never done anything this lacy and with all the time it takes for me to squeeze in my bobbin lace and my tatting, I will probably never do it either. Nice job Toni. I love the theme here also.
I just read that you " I love to make them and give away as gifts" so anytime you want to make me one I will send you my address!!!! Beautiful work indeed.

Well Toni, I told u my mother use to crochet and knit... I remember those countless times of watching her crochet afghans, sweaters..She tried teaching me how to knit but since I was left handed it was a little hard for her..I was forever dropping sstitches...Croceting was out of the question and it looked complicated... Great pictures of your hard work.

Very well said. Our grandmothers passed along to us a dying art. Every time I pick up my hook and thread I still think back all of those years she has taught me. It is an honor to carry on the tradition they passed to us. Thank-you for stopping and the lovely comment I always smile when I see you on my page.

When I make something it always takes me back to my grandmother and I remember all of the beautiful pieces she would make. When I make a piece that she gave me the pattern to I always dedicate it in her memory. Thank-you for the lovely comment and for stopping by
Wow Toni!! I enlarged the picture, and the detail in your doily (?) is fantastic!! Your grandmother taught you well, and passed on what sounds like a family tradition. Beautiful beautiful!!!
my daughter does latch hook, and wants to learn crochet ... I play croquet ... lol ... sorry ... great hobby and pic
I have done latch hook too and you can make beautiful things with that but I prefer to crochet and I have never played croquet!!! Thanks for stopping by

I watched my mom crochet. She did all that crafty stuff. I'm beginning to think it's an art that is becoming lost in the new generations. Make sure you pass it on.
Lovely hobby, perfect example of crochet.....I'll be thinking about learning to do that too....thanks for sharing your passion Picture Perfect Friday: HOBBY

It is amazes me that this is really a dying art. I was Walmart a few minutes ago buying some more thread and they hardly sell any type of thread or yarn any longer. Now I have a granddaughter to teach this to. Thanks for stopping by and realizing that it is an art that is slipping away.
That is an exquisite doily my mother in law used to crochet , I used to but nothing as beautiful as what you have here. Maybe I will try doing that again .
Oh I looked at the you tube instructions and it seems easy, I am going to try it later and there are a few after this you tube to continue showing us yayyy it's going to be fun ~~~ thank you :)

It is easy have fun with it I know I enjoy it very much
My mom used to do all that stuff so I know it takes a lot of skill, time and patience.
I really does take skill, time and patience, but most of all can't forget about the love that goes into it. Thanks for visiting my ~Hobby~ and getting it.
Very beautiful pieces. You must be so patient. I know how long it takes to make just one piece. My grandmother use to do beautiful pieces too. I'm a fairly good knitter but I could never do crochet.
Wow what a beautiful doiley. I crochet too and enjoy it but only ever do the easy stuff like big throwover blankets/rugs. Your work is so delicate and a lovely photo.

Thank-you for the lovely comment yes I am patient as I enjoy this my mind is free then and only think about what I am making, some pieces take longer than others. I too, can knit some but I am a better crocheter thanks for stopping by
